Bananas Are Good For You
“Mom, can I have a banana for breakfast?” Tommy asked from his booster chair.
“Sure, bananas are good for you,” she said peeling it for him.
Later in the day at snack time, Tommy asked, “Mom, can I have a banana with peanut butter?”
“Sure, bananas are good for you. Did you know they are a good source of potassium?”
Tommy went to his friend, Steven’s house for the afternoon and ate 2 banana and marshmallow sandwiches for lunch and shared a banana split with Steven. For supper, Steven’s mother served chicken with hot banana bread.
“Yeh, more bananas. My mom says they’re good for you. She said they have potatoes in them.” Tommy whispered to Steven at the table.
That night, Tommy lay on his bed moaning and holding his stomach.
“What’s wrong?” His mom felt his forehead and thought over the day.
“I don’t know?” Tommy groaned.
“Did you eat junk food at Steven’s?” she suspected.
“No. Just 2 banana sandwiches, a banana split, and some banana bread. You said bananas are good for me,” he reminded her.
She remembered her “bananas are good for you” comment without explaining a need for balance as he ate two bananas that morning.
“Yes, honey, but too much of a good thing can become a bad thing.”
Everything needs a balance: work with rest; routine with spontaneity; spending with saving.
