Book Drive

SpotlightRichmond.com, Books Are Fun & Chick-fil-A™ invite you to…

Share the Magic of Reading with Every Child in Richmond

Don’t miss our first Online Book Drive for the Richmond Region Book Bank
New Books at Discounted Prices

I am sure that many of you have been involved in a book drive; either for the Richmond Region Book Bank or a specific school or charity. There is something magical about a book; especially a brand new book. Every child needs to learn the value of reading and there’s no better way to make that happen than to give them their own book to keep and share with their family.

Since 2001, the Richmond Region Book Bank has distributed over 145,000 children’s books to over 200 different service providers in the Richmond region. Success by 6 provides management and oversight of the book bank; the Richmond Public Library provides storage space; local businesses provide books and funding; and service providers distribute books to families with children at risk of not reading at grade level. The Book Bank will distribute the books you purchase, as needed, or you can designate that they be donated to a specific group, school or classroom.

•Make your selections and payment right on the site

•Or print out the order form and mail your check to:
SpotlightRichmond P. O. Box 70982, Richmond, VA 23255.

Words of Encouragement

Just For Laughs
I was about five years old when I was standing on my tiptoes to get a drink from the water fountain at church. It was between Sunday school and worship service, so the hallway was filled with folks heading to the sanctuary and others slipping out the side door for their cars. As I drank down the cool water, I could hear two gray haired, been-around-for-years saints of the church whispering to one another as they slipped in line behind me. One patted me gently on the back of the head and said to her friend, “This is one of our preacher’s daughters. She’s not very p-r-e-t-t-y.”

I turned around and in a matter-of-fact way answered, “No. But I’m real s-m-a-r-t!”
