Kids Clubhouse-Literacy Links“Too much fun” in the Library
When was the last time you laughed? I enjoy laughter. My brother’s say I laugh like a duck – I think that’s funny too. This week I went to the Tuckahoe library with my daughters’. They were looking for book bowl books. I browsed around and ended up picking two newly published books off the shelf to read while I waited. I grabbed “The Perfect Nest” by Catherine Friend and “Fancy Nancy and the posh puppy” by Jane O’Connor. I sat in a plush green round chair. When my girls saw me reading, they piled on the chair with me. As I read, the book got funnier and funnier. We laughed so hard we almost rolled off the chair. I wondered if we weren’t having “too much fun” in the library. What a grand time we had reading two simple picture books one afternoon. If you haven’t read them, check them out and read them to your kids. Even older kids still like hearing a picture book story from time to time. Other recommended books: 1-"My Friend Is Sad," by Mo Willems (Pre K - 1st grade) - must have a great sense of humor and love of elephants to read this book. 2- The "Clementine" books by Sara Pennypacker. They are up at the top of my list of all time favorite books to read. |
